The Move to England

In November, Tanya and I moved to England and so ended the first phase of Pure Motive which shall henceforth be known as "The S.A. Phase."  We stayed with relatives in Andover for a couple months before deciding on settling in the beautiful city of Plymouth in the south west.  We sold most of our equipment before leaving Durban and had to wait a few months for our belongings to arrive in 32 boxes.  My guitar made it intact.  Tanya sold her guitar before we left.  Our guitar effects pedals, the bass guitar and a midi keyboard were the only other bits of musical equipment that were kept.  Our two cats arrived in two boxes a little before our equipment.

Since then we have settled into our new home and we have started focusing on the new phase of Pure Motive with a fresh sense of excitement despite the work we now have ahead of us to launch ourselves here in the UK.  So this phase shall be known as "The UK Phase."  Due to limited funds we have begun gathering new equipment in two strategic manoeuvres.  We traded in our two multi effects pedals as a part exchange on a little 15 watt Line 6 Spider amplifier.  A few weeks ago we traded in a few more electrical items (including a Sony PlayStation) for a 20 watt Stagg bass amplifier.  The bass guitar needed a bit of tweaking after we found that there was a tremendous amount of extra fret buzz since the move.  The action of the bass strings is now rather high to compensate in the meanwhile.

We have begun practising; I am playing guitar and singing, Tanya is playing bass and we are programming the drums in Garage Band for now.  "Hold You in the Sun", "Moonflow" and "Love's Root" are the three songs we have started working on and they are taking shape quite nicely.  We are looking forward to the future...
